Inclusion Walk 2016 (formerly Buddy Walk)
This year's Down Syndrome Connection of NWA Inclusion Walk (formerly Buddy Walk) will be held on Saturday, October 22 from 2 - 4 pm (the walk itself will begin at 3 pm). The Inclusion Walk features music, games, arts & crafts, vendor booths and more while we raise awareness for Down syndrome in our community! The participants will gather for a fun, 1-mile walk around Arvest Ballpark in Springdale, AR and all individuals with Down syndrome will receive a medal after finishing the walk.
Each year all the families of the Down Syndrome Connection of Northwest Arkansas (DSCNWA) gather their family and friends, to come take part in this wonderful awareness walk. It is the main Down syndrome awareness program and fundraiser DSCNWA has each year, and it helps us to continue to grow the programs and services that we provide to our local families.
The Inclusion Walk has three primary goals:
- To promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome
- To raise funds to support our local families (by providing education, support and family events throughout the year)
- To enhance the position of the Down syndrome community, enabling us to positively influence local and national policy and practice
